I offer editing and proofreading services for short stories and essays between 250 – 10,000 words.
Your short story or essay deserves to look its best. Though it’s always an excellent idea to run your writing through a spell checker, all too often, common spelling errors are missed by computer programs due to homophones. I provide what computers cannot: understanding when the language of a written piece should sound like a business document, an academic paper, a casual blog post, or an engaging story.
I provide over twenty years of experience writing and editing documents and fiction, applying my knowledge to clearing away the errors and tightening writing.
I can deliver corrections in .docx, .pdf, .rtf, or Google Drive. For Standard and Premium packages, this will include both a document that tracks recommended corrections and a formatted document of your story or essay with corrections applied.
Basic: Flash fiction or short essays up to 1,000 words.
$10*, 2 Days (+$10 for rush, 1 day delivery)
Standard: Short stories and essays 1,001 – 5, 000 words.
$20*, 3 Days (+25 for rush, 1 day delivery)
Premium: Short stories and essays 5,001 – 10,000 words.
$30*, 4 Days (+$45 for rush, 1 day delivery)
There are two ways to hire me:
- Send a querying email to ravendemers@gmail.com with your requirements, including time frame and priorities, and I will send you an invoice via PayPal.
- Select the gig type you prefer from my Fiverr profile and Fiverr will contact me to start the editing process.
If you have a larger project, such as a technical manual, novella, or novel, please consider hiring my favorite editor, Ellen Klowden.
If you require a consultant or sounding board on a fiction project of any length and need help overcoming blocks or developing your ideas, please send a querying email to ravendemers@gmail.com to discuss your needs and schedule time to chat. $20/half hour via private message, phone, or Discord.
*My rates are higher on Fiverr because the site charges freelancers 20% of all earned income, including tips, requires freelancers to wait two weeks to process payments, and then charges $1 to withdraw the net money earned. Freelancers must then wait an additional week to receive the direct deposit.
